Results of correlational analysis of injury risk among employees of the mining and metallurgical holding Metalloinvest are provided. The research methodology is based on the concept of the occupational injury distribution pyramidal model (Heinrich’s pyramid). The study has investigated the interrelations between various injury rate levels, from microinjuries to accidents with severe and fatal consequences, using official report data on the sustainable development of the Metalloinvest Company for the period 2019–2023. To evaluate the degree of dependence between injury categories, a non-parametric method of Spearman’s rank correlation has been applied. The analysis has shown a positive correlation between the value of microinjuries and light injuries, which confirms the theory of their functional connection. In addition, a strong interconnection between the number of severe injuries and fatalities has been identified, which indicates the common systemic causes of such incidents. Such regularity can be conditioned by several factors. First, incomplete reporting and registration of microinjuries of employees is possible. Secondly, the causes of microinjuries, light and severe injuries may significantly differ. For example, microinjuries are more often caused by the uncomfortable arrangement of a workplace, the use of an inappropriate tool, or insufficient attention to details, whereas severe accidents and fatalities can be caused by serious safety violations, equipment failures, or unforeseen circumstances. Thirdly, the impact of a human factor, such as fatigue, loss of attention, and stress, can play a more significant role in the development of severe accidents and fatalities than microinjuries. The obtained results prove the compliance of the quantitative injury data with the theoretical provisions of Heinrich’s pyramidal model, which confirms their applicability for the evaluation and analysis of injury rate in the mining and metallurgical industry. At the same time, the unstable interconnection between the levels of severity of injuries among employees indicates the need for further thorough investigation of injury causes in order to ensure a higher safety level for the employees.
