Issues of the occupational safety education system when training workers and experts in training centers of the Republic of Uzbekistan have been considered. The existing regulatory and legal documents, retraining and continuing education programs for workers and experts have been analyzed. The compliance of educational programs with international standards and their potential improvement based on international practices have been determined.
The issues hampering the achievement of a high safety level at workplaces, despite the available regulatory and legal framework covering the main aspects of occupational safety, have been identified as follows:
Lack of qualified lecturers with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of occupational safety:
Outdated study materials and training methods that do not comply with the modern requirements;
Low motivation of employees perceiving occupational safety training as a formality required for certification and not as an important element of ensuring safety at workplaces, which is associated with insufficient awareness of the importance of occupational safety and the lack of stimulating measures to participate in training programs;
Failure to use international standards that can significantly improve the quality of training programs and reduce the occupational injury level;
Failure to use modern technologies such as online courses, virtual simulators, and simulations that make the learning process more interactive and efficient.
Recommendations on the improvement of the occupational safety educational system for workers and experts in training centers of the Republic of Uzbekistan that will help reduce the number of occupational accidents and diseases and facilitate the establishment of a safe and efficient production environment have been provided.
