The issue of industrial wastewater treatment, especially wastewaters containing spent cooling lubricants and detergents, requires a comprehensive approach and the search for new and efficient solutions. The study of using water treatment sludge of thermal power plants as an agent is considered from the point of view of waste integration into workflows. The wastewater treatment method proposed includes the development of a resource-efficient wastewater treatment method and technologies of operation of facilities, as well as the improvement of waste handling systems at all stages of the life cycle.
The obtained results imply the expediency of the replacement of lime milk with energy sludge of thermal power plant water treatment during coagulation. The relevance of the study encompasses both the efficiency of wastewater treatment and the transition to a closed-cycle economy.
Using the sludge of thermal power plant water treatment as an agent during coagulation aims not only to improve the wastewater quality but also to reduce the load on ecosystems and resolve the problem of energy industry waste utilization. Using the sludge helps to increase the environmental safety of an enterprise, improve the general environmental situation when facing challenges associated with sludge warehousing and long-term storage, and increase the waste recycling level within closed-cycle production.
