On the Development of a Software Package to Calculate the Sanitary Protection Area of a Terminal Warning Device in order to Minimize the Risk of Health Loss by Personnel



Annotation:

The problem of placing a terminal warning device within the area of the local public alarm system is caused by the need to install powerful acoustic devices, on the one hand, and, consequently, to calculate the sanitary protection area in order to prevent the facility’s personnel and the population from staying in the high sound pressure zone at the moment of alarm signal transmitting, on the other. The study considers a model of simplified calculation of the sounding zone of the acoustic installation and approaches to the development of a software platform to calculate the sanitary protection area when placing the terminal warning device in order to minimize the risk of health loss by the facility’s personnel and the population during the alarm signal transmitting in case of accident at a hazardous production facility. The development of the software package aims to minimize the risk of health loss by personnel during the alarm at hazardous production facilities due to the establishment of safe conditions of staying within the zone of the terminal warning device’s acoustic impact. The software package helps calculate the sanitary protection area of each terminal warning device according to the conditions of its placement at a production facility and acoustic characteristics. The calculation algorithm is based on the existing norms and methodologies considering the noise impact of a human.
The developed software package is a tool for occupational and industrial safety experts responsible for personnel safety at a hazardous production facility. Using the software package allows for an objective assessment of acoustic risks associated with the use of terminal warning devices and provides the necessary measures to protect personnel.
