To establish safe working conditions, occupational safety requirements must be met. At the same time, in addition to unconditional compliance with all legislative norms, establishing correct behavior of employees at workplaces plays a significant role. A specific type of audit, behavioral, is conducted in order to check the functioning of the occupational safety system, the correctness and efficiency of decisions made by a company with a developed corporate culture.
This audit implies the observation of compliance with the required safety level when an employee performs his/her job duties. The goal of the implementation of the behavioral safety audit is to register a human factor in people’s behavior in order to mitigate their hazardous actions when performing job functions. Special attention is paid to the personnel operating in harmful and hazardous working conditions. The correctly conducted behavioral audits help increase the efficiency of training for enterprise employees, establishing their necessary competencies, developing their professional skills, the tendency to work safely, and, as a consequence, preserving the life and health of employees and the entire team.
A significant share of industrial accidents is caused by hazardous actions of employees. The article focuses on the possibility of reducing occupational risk by establishing and improving the safe behavior of employees. Substantiations of the implementation of the behavioral safety audit procedures are provided; the methodology of conducting the audit is presented. To analyze the results of the causality of hazardous behavior of employees, the barrier diagram has been selected as a tool.
The goal of the study is to develop algorithms for the behavioral safety audit in order to identify unsafe behavior of employees in coal mining enterprises.
