Studies of Changes in Physical and Mechanical Properties of Hoist Rope Wires in Mine Shafts of a Depth over 600 m

Annotation:

The article provides research results for hoist rope samples provided by the Makeevka Research Institute for Mining Safety (MAKNII) decommissioned in shafts over 600 m deep. Parameters of changes in the physical and mechanical properties of wires and the residual strength of ropes have been demonstrated. It has been established that the residual strength of rope samples featuring pitting corrosion obtained in the course of studies by non-destructive control methods enables further operation of such ropes. At the same time, the residual strength calculated based on the results of tests by destructive control methods provides for the rejection and replacement of the rope. In order to ensure the overall safety of the operation of personnel and shafts, the development of additional measures to control ropes in the shafts over 600 m deep and more, with a return ventilation air jet, upon one year of operation or when the 10 % of wire cross section loss is reached, as well as the development of an additional criterion of rope rejection by non-destructive control methods are required.
