Annotation:
The results are given related to emergency situations studies at the methane rich coal mines of Russia, including from gassing of working mainly in the wide excavation sites. Effect of sources of ignition of the methane-coal-dust-air mixtures in the underground mines is assessed quantitatively: blasting, endogenous fires, violations during operation of electrical equipment, methane inflammation in the wells, friction sparking and smoking.
The dynamics of the number of accidents and injuries of miners from 1991 to 2015, as well as the conditions of catastrophic explosions of methane-coal-dust-air mixtures in the individual mines of Kuzbass and their consequences are given in the Article. The role of degassing in reduction of methane release rate in the working faces and in the formation of explosive situations is shown. The disadvantages are shown in organization of control over gas and dust hazard in the mines, low level of knowledge of decision-making process in aero-gas dynamics by engineering and technical staff in the complicated mining conditions of the development of gas-bearing coal seams.
