Improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System at the Railway Transport Facilities Operating Hoisting and Traction Equipment

Annotation:

For successful reduction of the level of injuries at the railway transport facilities where hoisting and traction equipment is used, it is required to pay special attention to training employees in occupational safety requirements. It is necessary to improve training programs and methods of testing knowledge in this area. The main task is the formation of a positive attitude of the employees to safety issues. The most effective way to solve it is to strengthen motivation for a safe work. It is necessary that the employees themselves be interested in complying with labor protection requirements. An important role is played by the establishment of personal responsibility for compliance with or violation of certain rules. Activities on occupational safety improvement should be simple so that anyone can participate in them. In Russia, the practice is widely spread related to holding special competitions with real awards for those who succeeded in creating safe working conditions for themselves and others.

New technologies and approaches to training in occupational safety facilitate to more efficient acquisition and assimilation of knowledge. At the same time, practical skills are developed in situations that threaten life and health. The need for the development and implementation of a simulator based on a computer program simulating the conduct of emergency-recovery work on the railway using lifting and traction equipment is noted. The place of emergency-recovery work (view through the windshield and side windows of the tractor cab, crane and other machines) is displayed on the special monitors. Studies showed that the simulator that imitates railway transport facilities operating lifting and traction equipment is the most effective tool for safe work skills training.
